Shockwave and Medical K-Laser Therapy

Specialist modalities used such as Focused and Radial Shockwave Therapy and K-Laser Therapy are proven in treating both chronic and recurrent injuries and conditions. In many instances there will be an immediate reduction in pain, as well as improved mobility and function. This therapy is non-invasive, non-addictive and there is no need for anaesthesia. Each treatment session takes approximately 5-20 minutes. Most conditions require just 3 to 5 treatments that are done 3-7 days apart.

Shockwave Therapy

Central Chiropractic Clinic provides the latest Radial and Focused Shockwave Therapy technology. Our medical team have used Shockwave Therapy extensively in the past 20 years to treat patients for various injuries and ailments.

As one of the UK’s leading clinic’s for Shockwave Therapy we will be able to provide expert advice on whether this treatment is right for your injury or condition and if so, whether you are suited to Radial or Focused Shockwave Therapy.

What is Focused Shockwave Therapy?

Focused Shockwave Therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive medical treatment that utilizes high-intensity sound waves to stimulate the healing process in various musculoskeletal conditions. The treatment is delivered through a specialised device that focuses the shockwaves to the affected area, promoting tissue regeneration and reducing pain.

How does Focused Shock Therapy work?

During a Focused Shockwave Therapy session, high-energy sound waves are directed to the exact location of the injury or affected area. These sound waves generate mechanical stress, releasing substances that facilitate healing and promote tissue regeneration. Focused Shockwave Therapy improves blood circulation in the treated area, enhancing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the damaged tissues.

Benefits of Focused Shockwave Therapy

  • Non-invasive
  • Pain reduction
  • Improved mobility
  • Fast recovery
  • Minimal side effects

What is Radial Shockwave Therapy?

Radial Shockwave Therapy delivers lower-intensity sound waves in a radial pattern. This treatment is particularly effective for musculoskeletal conditions such as tennis elbow, patellar tendinopathy, and Achilles tendinopathy.

How does Radial Shockwave Therapy work?

Radial Shockwave Therapy uses a handheld device (similar to a wand) that delivers acoustic waves to the affected area. These radial waves create microtrauma, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. The therapy also promotes the formation of new blood vessels and accelerates the breakdown of calcifications, helping to restore normal tissue function.

Benefits of Radial Shockwave Therapy

  • Non-invasive
  • Pain relief
  • Improved function
  • Short treatment sessions
  • Minimal down time

Medical K-Laser Therapy

Central Chiropractic Clinic may recommend Medical K-Laser for you following consultation. As a non-invasive procedure it usually takes around half an hour to perform and requires no medications.

The use of Medical K-Laser therapy, also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy or cold laser therapy, has become more widespread throughout the UK in the past 10 years or so.

Using specific wavelengths of light, K-Laser stimulates cellular function and promotes healing.

Pain reduction:

Medical K-Laser therapy can help alleviate pain by blocking nerve signals, reducing inflammation, and releasing endorphins, natural pain-relieving substances in the body. It can be effective for both acute and chronic pain conditions.

Accelerated healing:

The laser energy penetrates the tissues and stimulates cellular activity, promoting the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy source for cells. This increased energy supply enhances healing, leading to faster tissue repair and regeneration.

Reduced inflammation:

Medical K-Laser therapy can help decrease inflammation by accelerating blood flow to the affected area. It promotes the release of nitric oxide, which widens blood vessels, improves oxygen and nutrient delivery, and eliminates waste products. This enhanced circulation helps reduce swelling and inflammation.

Enhanced tissue repair:

The laser light stimulates collagen production, a protein essential for wound healing and tissue repair. This can be particularly beneficial for injuries involving tendons, ligaments, and joint structures.

Improved range of motion:

Medical K-Laser Therapy can help improve joint mobility and range of motion by reducing pain and inflammation and promoting tissue healing. This is particularly useful for conditions such as arthritis or musculoskeletal injuries.

Costs, pricing, fees and terms for both Focused and Radial Shockwave Therapy

  • Shockwave Therapy Machines are both expensive to purchase and to maintain. Therefore we charge a very competitive price of £60 per session
  • It is estimated that a single Shockwave session has the same or greater effect as 6 – 8 sessions of deep friction massage which can be very painful, therefore £ 60 plus per session represents great value for money!
  • You will need an assessment or consultation with one of our health professionals to determine Shockwave therapy is for you, the fee for this £50
  • A Shockwave therapy session costs are for one area i.e. One foot, knee, shoulder or hip. Discounts will be given for both area’s per session, the cost for two areas would be £110 per session, this reduces the shockwave therapy cost to £55 per area.
